FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The use of no-bid contracts for government jobs is being strongly criticized by the California state auditor.
In a new report, Elaine Howle is blasting the use of such deals, which have cost taxpayers major sums of cash.
Howle says California spent around $44 billion on non-competitive arrangements for work, between 2011 and 2016.
Many of those projects ended with significant cost overruns and delays.
Howle’s report urges a reversal of such practices and better oversight.
