FRESNO, CA (KMJ) A 13 year old Huron boy spent the weekend in jail, held on murder charges.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department says the child was arrested Friday night in the shooting death of 14 year old Diego Perez at the Porvenire Estates Apartments on the 16,000 block of W. Tornado Avenue.
Huron Police officers were called to the apartment complex around 9:30 p.m. Friday after gunshots were reported.
The young suspect has not been identified because he is a minor. That could change, however, if he is charged as an adult.
A motive for this killing has not been established, but detectives have learned that the two went to school together and knew each other.
Huron PD has turned the investigation over to the Fresno Co. Sheriff’s Department.
On Tuesday, June 13th, detectives will file the paperwork for this case with the Juvenile Probation Department, who will then work with the District Attorney’s Office to discuss potential charges. The Fresno County DA’s office has not yet announced if the boy will be charged as an adult.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Detective Jose Diaz at (559) 600-8206.
