Kaiser Permanente’s $30,000 For Pools Helps Fresnans Escape Heat

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno area Families can escape the heat at five different neighborhood pools.

Children under 12 will have free access to five learner pools at Fink-White, Pinedale, Quigley, Einstein and Romain neighborhood centers, from 1:00 to 5:00 daily.

Teens and adults are able to swim for free from 5:00 until 8:00p.m. at night, Monday through Friday, thanks to Kaiser Permanente’s $30,000 dollar grant to Fresno United Neighborhoods or “FUN.”

“This is our fifth year of providing this grant to open pools in the City of Fresno and we know this is a great opportunity for kids to stay healthy and active throughout the summer months.” – Kaiser Permanent Spokesperson Kerri Leedy.

Nearly 25,000 people swam at one of the five learner pools last summer – the first time the pools remained open until 8:00.

Grant money also supports a junior lifeguard program and free swim lessons for more than 100 children at Edison High School’s pool.

A $45,000 grant is going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County for healthy snacks and meals that will be available at the Fink White and West Fresno clubs.
