A juvenile boy is believed to have sparked the 1,700 acre Willow Fire — burning near Bass Lake.
“Family members did attempt to put the fire out, but were unable to stop the fire even though it started as a small fire. The location where all of this occurred is a cell phone dead area, so they were unable to call the fire in until they reached a location where their cell phones would work.” – Madera County District Attorney David Linn
Madera County District Attorney David Linn tells KMJ News that charges have not yet been filed.
The Willow Fire is threatening 450 structures — and is only 5 percent contained.
