FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — In an effort to eliminate inconsistent policies regarding sexual abuse on college campuses, California lawmakers are considering several pieces of legislation.
One proposal would require schools to disclose more information about disciplinary actions taken against student offenders.
Another bill would mandate that public universities note on transcripts when a student is ineligible for re-enrollment, due to suspension or expulsion.
The U.S. Department of Education is presently investigating more than 100 universities throughout the nation, for alleged mishandling of sexual assault cases.
State lawmakers say California has an obligation to provide a safe and secure learning environment.
