FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Following a scathing state audit, which found that the California DMV wasn’t doing enough to prevent disabled parking placard abuse, the department has begun cracking down on violators.
Statewide, hundreds of citations for placard fraud have been issued, including more than 2 dozen here in Fresno, during the past month.
In addition, the DMV says it plans to launch a public-relations push against fraud later this year.
Disable placard applications will also be undergoing greater scrutiny, with the assistance of state health boards.
