FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — State Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon has introduced legislation calling for 100 percent of retail energy sold in California to come from renewable sources by 2045.
The target of 50 percent, currently set for 2030, would also be moved to 2025.
De Leon says the previous goal was faulty, because it underestimated the industry’s ability to generate clean energy.
He believes California should show the world that 100 percent of energy can come from renewable sources and put people to work.
