FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — If half of 8- to 11-year-olds in the U.S. got 75 minutes of physical activity a week, nearly $22 billion in medical costs and lost wages would be saved over their lifetimes.
That’s according to a new John Hopkins University study, which says that would also lead to fewer obese youth.
In addition, a healthier body weight could lower the risk for cancer, especially in girls.
Researchers say parents need to cut their kids’ screen time, and encourage them to run around more.
