FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Appearing in federal court Monday afternoon for his confirmation, former Fresno Deputy Police Chief Keith Foster and his attorney said they’re prepared to go trial.
Foster was nabbed along with several others by federal agents back in 2015, when he was supplying oxycodone pills to his nephew, Randy Flowers, who’s a convicted felon.
Flowers accepted a plea deal Monday, which will result in drug charges against him being dropped, a guilty plea to illegally having firearms, as well as his not having to testify against his uncle, and a lighter prison sentence.
Foster’s trial is scheduled to begin May 9, along with the only other defendant who’s not taken a plea deal in the case, Ricky Reynolds, who’s been charged with manufacturing marijuana.
Foster’s attorney E. Marshall Hodgkins says the estimated trial length of two weeks is optimistic, adding that he expects it to last at least three weeks.
