Study: Touchscreen Use Linked to Lack of Sleep in Children

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Parents who give their children a smartphone, tablet, or other device with a touchscreen, are likely depriving them of sleep.

According to researchers at Birbeck University of London, every hour of touchscreen use results in about 15 minutes less sleep.

75 percent of parents surveyed say they little their children use electronic devices, for a daily average of 9 to 45 minutes.

However, experts say the stimulation of games and videos, may be making it more difficult for kids to fall asleep.
