FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Water use is on the decline in drought-stricken California, but the majority of homeowners and businesses have been slow to adopt water-efficient plumbing.
According to survey by Plumbing Manufacturers International, only 21% of California bathroom faucets meet the federal WaterSense standard of 1.5 gallons per minute. Fewer than 24% of showerheads meet the 2 gallon per minute standard.
Across the nation, Texas has the highest WaterSense showerhead installation rate, while Arkansas, has the highest bathroom faucet installation rate.
