Fiat Chrysler is recalling nearly 350,000 crossover SUVS to fix engine covers that could come loose and catch fire when in contact with hot exhaust system parts.
Customers may smell a burning odor or hear a noise from the engine area before a fire.
The recall covers Dodge Journeys and Fiat Freemonts from the 2011 through 2015 – with 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engines.
There’s also a fix to prevent future hacking into the Jeep Cherokee and other vehicles.
Wired Maganize reported two hackers remotely took control of a jeep cherokee’s speed, brakes and other features.
Fiat says it doesn’t know of any real-world hacking incidents targeting its vehicles.
Owners can download the software to fix it from the company’s website.
