Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office: Tip Leads To Escaped Prisoner

 

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) -The search is over for the prisoner who escaped a minimum-security facility in Mariposa County.

The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office says missing inmate Blake Castro was captured around 8:30 am, Tuesday Morning.

Castro was reported missing from the Sierra Conservation Center Mount Bullion Conservation Camp, during an inmate count Monday, March 20. He was last seen at 2 a.m. Monday in his assigned housing unit.

“Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office got a tip from a property owner of a suspicious person in Cathey’s Valley – inmate Castro was discovered there and brought back without incident.” – Robert Kelsey, Center’s Public Information Officer.

31 year-old Castro was committed to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on Aug. 2, 2016, from Fresno County to serve a four-year sentence for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant.

“He was originally scheduled to be released in November of 2018 however that date will change now, with the new charges.” — Robert Kelsey, Center’s Public Information Officer.
