FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Uber has received permission from the California DMV to operate two SUVs on public roads, along with approval for 48 backup drivers.
The permits resolve a months-long conflict, which began when Bber started testing self-driving cars in the Bay Area, without the blessing of state regulators.
The DMV ordered Uber to cease operations, to which they responded by moving to Arizona.
The experiments also revealed several issues, including numerous red light violations.
This new agreement allows tests to resume in California, although no passengers are being picked up at this time.
