FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A school in Downtown Fresno is dreaming of a new library, and wants you to click for them.
Kepler Neighborhood School is one of four California schools competing for grant money from MyScholarDollars.com.
Sarah Addison is the English Language Arts Coordinator at Kepler, and says if they win their dream is a new library. Currently, there is only seating for 13 students, so when a class of 24 comes in, nine students are relegated to the floor.
“There is a contest that is put on by the 529 College Scholarship Program that’s offered to the various states and to promote that they are providing grants to a number of different sizes of schools. We are in the small school category.” – Sarah Addison, ELA Teacher, Kepler Neighborhood School.
Addison says Fresno is competing against schools in Los Angeles.
The winning school will receive grant funds for any program or service that the schools deem as enriching the current educational experiences of students, and it may include musical instruments, computers, library books, sports equipment, field trips, tutoring labs, science and technology and math instruction, student counseling, clubs, or other services, programs and activities.
Voters must be at least 18 years old and may only vote once per email address per day.
Winning schools will be selected by April 3, 2017.
