(KMJ) – Kingsburg is a finalist in a contest to receive $500,000 to go towards revitalization efforts. The city is competing against four other cities in the for the half million dollar prize, as well as being featured in Season Two of the national show, “Small Business Revolution.”
Kingsburg was one of 14,000 nominations in the contest. Economic Development Coordinator Jolene Polyack says the town is deserving of the prize after the hardships Kingsburg has endured over the last decade – the recession, the drought, a fire and Del Monte closing its plant.
Voting is open now through February 16th. You can watch Kingsburg’s video as to why they deserve to win the prize, and vote here.
