The California State Capitol is preparing for it’s 85th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
At 5:00 on Monday, December 5th, Governor Jerry Brown and the first lady Anne Gust, will appear on the west steps to flip the switch.
Some call it the first proper Christmas tree lighting ceremony in three years, rain forced the event indoors in 2014, and Governor Brown canceled last year’s event, following the deadly shooting in San Bernardino.
The 60-foot-tall white fir is being decorated with 10,000 low-energy lights and 900 ornaments.
