(KMJ) An Exeter man is headed to death row for the brutal torture and murder of a little girl.
A Tulare County jury on Wednesday recommended the death sentence for 25 year old Christopher Cheary.
Cheary had been found guilty of raping, torturing and killing his then-girlfriend’s 3 year old daughter, Sophia Acosta, in 2011.
Investigators said Sophia’s mom had been off buying drugs at the time of the crime.
It’s the first death sentence handed down in more than 7 years in Tulare County.
