One day after Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation eliminating personal and religious belief exemptions for student vaccinations — a referendum has been filed to have it overturned.
Former Republican Assemblyman Tim Donnelly is leading the effort to overturn the controversial law — which mandates that virtually all California students be vaccinated.
Proponents will have 90 days to collect at least 365-880 signatures.
If they succeed — the mandatory vaccines law could not take effect until November of 2016 — which is a few months into the school year when it would first apply.
