Anticipating problems from upcoming fireworks —- the Clovis Fire Department is allowing all addresses in Clovis to water their lawns Saturday night – July 4th.
Clovis Fire Chief Michael Despain says it might not even be “your” fireworks that cause a fire:
“You could do everything right but the guy a block away could be putting your house at risk with illegal fireworks.” – Clovis Fire Chief Michael Despain
So to cut the fire risk, Chief Despain says Clovis Public Utilities and the Fire Department agreed to allow all Clovis homeowners – regardless of address to wet their lawns from 8pm to midnight on Saturday.
“They’re relaxing enforcement for the 4 hours from 8pm to midnight on July 4th.” – Clovis Fire Chief Michael Despain
You might want to swap watering days as you are still liable for overages and will be issued a fine on your bill if you do not meet Clovis’ mandatory 36 percent decrease in water.
