A new study released measures the status of arts education throughout the state of California.
All Fresno County school districts are above the state average according to the California Arts Education Data Project.
The Fresno County Office of Education believes this is a result of the concerted efforts by school boards, teachers, district superintendents and the FCOE to bring back arts education.
Of the more than 88,000 students in Fresno County grades 7-12, nearly 36,000 are enrolled in arts courses.
Fresno County data for middle and high schools, as well as K-8 and K-12 institutions.
The stats only include 7-12 grade students:
88,374 Total enrollment of students in Fresno County grades 7-12
35, 912 Total enrollment of students in Fresno County grades 7-12 in arts courses
41% of students enrolled in arts courses (state average is 38%)
Art courses 18% of students
Music courses 16% of students
AME courses 6% of students (career technical education courses in the arts)
Theatre 4% of students
Dance 1% of students
