FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California is not only the nation’s most-populous state, but it also has the largest populations of four major ethic groups: whites, Latinos, Asians, and American Indians.

The latest U.S. Census Bureau report shows the combined non-white population is the second-largest, at more than 61%.

Latinos have become the state’s biggest ethnic group at 15 million, trailed by single-race whites.

However, California’s African-American population has been shrinking, now at less than 7%.

The report also indicates that millennials now outnumber baby boomers, making up for than a quarter of the nation’s population.
