Study Links Birth Control to Increase Risk of Depression

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Women who use contraception are more likely to suffer from depression.

According to a new study published in JAMA Psychiatry, females using hormonal birth control face a 40 percent increased risk of depression after 6 months.

The CDC says this is something that’s long-been suspected.

About 30 percent of women who take birth control pills end up quitting, due to side effects.
