Yosemite Park Superintendent Resigns Amid Scandal

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The National Park Service (NPS) confirms that Yosemite Superintendent Don Neubacher will be removed from his post.

NPS released a statement to KMJ on Thursday saying they acted to move Don Neubacher from his role as Superintendent of Yosemite National Park and have accepted his resignation – which will be effective November 1st.

A congressional oversight committee said last week that 18 staffers have complained of the toxicity – including complaints of sexual harassment and bullying. Neubacher apologized in an e-mail to staffers sent out on Sunday.

NPS spokesman Andrew Munoz said in a statement to KMJ, “The parks service is taking a comprehensive approach to address and prevent sexual harassment and hostile work environments. that means promoting an inclusive and respectful culture that does not accept discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.”

Munoz says the investigation is ongoing and there are not yet any findings or conclusions relating to the allegations.

Neubacher led Yosemite for nearly seven years.
