FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — AT&T has been hit with a $100 million fine, for offering “unlimited data” plans, and then slowing speeds after a certain bandwidth limit was reached.
It follows the filing of a lawsuit here in California, which is still working its way through federal court.
The FCC says that AT&T’s claims were misleading, but the carrier plans to “vigorously dispute” the allegations.
TracFone Wireless was accused of similar tactics earlier this year; the company agreed to a $40 million settlement.
