(KMJ) 50 year old James Thomas is behind bars in the Fresno County Jail, held on charges of murdering his elderly mother.
The 80 year old victim was found dead in her home by her granddaughter Wednesday morning. Investigators say there was obvious evidence of blunt force trauma.
Thomas, who was immediately considered a “person of interest”, was arrested Wednesday afternoon near the scene of the crime.
Detectives say he had fled the scene on his motorcycle, which was later found abandoned off of Hwy 41.
Fresno Police say they were called to the house near Fresno High late Tuesday as Thomas was creating a disturbance.
