FRESNO (KMJ) – Fresno police and railroad officials are investigating a deadly accident, between and train and a pedestrian.
It happened Tuesday morning, on August 23rd, along the tracks crossing Belmont near Roeding Park.
Lt. Joe Gomez says at 5:54 am, officers were dispatched to Belmont Avenue and Golden State Blvd. to the site where where the train struck the man.
The conductor saw a man going back and forth from behind a bush ahead, right next to the tracks.
As the train was about 30 feet away, the man ran directly in front of the train where he was killed upon impact.
Identification on the victim will later come from the Coroners Office.
There is a homeless encampment right near where it happened..
Police say traffic was not affected.
