FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Harley Davidson has been slapped with a $12 million fine by the EPA.
The government is accusing the motorcycle maker of selling hundreds of thousands of illegal super tuners, which cause the bikes to emit more pollutants.
In addition, the Milwaukee-based manufacturer is accused of building more than 12,000 bikes, that were not covered by an EPA certification.
The company must stop selling the super tuners and agree to buy them back.
The EPA says Harley will also spend $3 million to replace traditional woodstoves, with cleaner, modern ones in some communities.
