(MADERA, CA (KMJ) – An active shooter scene in Madera County ended Thursday morning after the suspect sent Sheriff’s Deputies on a search for hours.

25-year-old Alvaro Molina is now in custody after fleeing on foot after a shooting and a car accident, where his car overturned.  The Madera County Sheriff’s Office says Molina allegedly shot a female victim – that he knew – in another car before the car accident on Avenue 7 between Road 25 and Road 24.  After his car overturned, Molina fled on foot. He was caught after a few hours near Avenue 7 and Road 24 with the help of a helicopter, K-9 and Sheriff’s Deputies.

The female victim, who’s the suspect’s sister, was taken to a Fresno hospital. Her condition is unknown.  The Sheriff’s Department does not believe she was the intended target in the shooting.  A male passenger in the victim’s car also knew the suspect, and is a witness.  Molina left the scene in an ambulance to be taken to a hospital after he was apprehended.  Avenue 7 between Road 24 and Road 25 is shut down for Sheriff’s Deputies to investigate and clear the accident.
