Fresno State Football Player Suffers Heat Stroke

Shane Gama FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno State Athletics confirms a football player is in the hospital after suffering heat stroke following a team work out.

Junior offensive lineman Shane Gama is in serious condition – but no longer in ICU – after a workout supervised by the head football strength and conditioning coach, Thomas Stallworth, and the Fresno State sports medicine staff.

Gama was unresponsive on Friday afternoon after the workout, and was taken by ambulance to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center.

According to Accuweather, Friday’s temperature in Fresno reached a high of 104 degrees.
