FRESNO (KMJ) – A peaceful rally took place Monday July 11th at Fresno City Hall.
About three dozen protestors turned out for the community meeting at the west lawn at noon, saying they want to improve relationships with law enforcement.
Fresno is just one site as demonstrations take place throughout the country, to protest the Baton Rouge shooting and the deadly police shooting of a black man near St. Paul, Minnesota.
Many were family members who wore T-shirts with photos of loved ones who had been shot during an incident involving police.
Organizers spoke of 19 year old teenager Dylan Noble, who was shot dead on June 25th, and whose parents are calling for an outside agency to investigate.
Protestors chanted “No Justice – No Peace,” and with signs in hand, they were asking Chief Jerry Dyer for a “Don’t Shoot” policy to require officers to stop shooting and find other means beside a gun such as rubber bullets or tasers to enforce the law.
Organizers say they are planning meeting for Wednesday night at the Fresno County Jail.
