EMOORE, CA (KMJ) – A 3-year-old is dead in Lemoore after suffering a gunshot wound to the head on Saturday.
Lemoore Police responded to a medical call on Saturday night and discovered a toddler suffering from a head injury. They discovered a firearm nearby.
The 3-year-old, who was with family visiting from out of town, was transported to Hanford AMC where she died shortly thereafter.
Lemoore Deputy Matthew Smith says the juvenile was alone in a bedroom when the injury occurred and that the investigation points to it being a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Smith says they’re investigating a child endangerment crime.
No arrests have been made, but charges are expected to be filed soon.
