FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — In a new study involving more than 600 IT practitioners at large companies, a mere 36 percent said they were able to restrict the sharing of confidential data with third parties.
Data security vendor Fasoo says most companies fail to realize the amount of intellectual property and the number of trade secrets floating around.
A majority have failed to educate their employees about protecting confidential information, and allow them to use free, consumer-grade file sharing services.
Having sensitive documents end up in the wrong hands can be devastating for a company.
However, experts say often times, incidents go unreported.
