VISALIA (KMJ) — The City of Visalia is asking for the people’s input on public services. What’s being called a community-wide conversation is taking place.
The process originally started in 2015, with the creation of two citizen committees looking into essential services.
“Once they had pulled everything together, they present it to our City Council and recommended that the City Council continues the discussion and possibly look at a half-cent sales tax”, says the city’s Alison Lambert.
“That would really be focused on community services and the priorities that our citizens have for our community”.
Now the city is looking for feedback, and they’d like to find out the public’s priority list. The community was asked previously to give their feedback on priorities, which included emergency response times, police patrols, homelessness, groundwater supplies, and local infrastructure.
“We are looking for the citizens to tell us exactly how they feel. If we have citizens here in Visalia that say ‘I think things are going great as is’, please join us at these meetings, tell us what’s working for us, share with us your thoughts”.
That can be done either online (the link to do so can be found clicking here) or at a series of meetings with the first is taking place on June 16th.
