WATCH: Hillary Clinton’s Fresno Rally

(KMJ)  “Donald Trump is not qualified, temperamentally, to be President of the United States” Hillary Clinton told a packed crowd at Fresno’s Edison High School on Saturday evening.

LISTEN LIVE: KMJ’s PRIMARY ELECTION COVERAGE – 6-9PM – TUESDAY, JUNE 7

About 1,500 attended the speech which was broadcast live on KMJ. When it was announced that the event had reached full capacity, dozens were left outside in the blistering heat to listen.  The Clinton camp handed out bottled water to those stranded in the sun.

Temperatures averaged around 102 as folks lined up to get inside the air conditioned facility.

“I will defend Planned Parenthood.  I will defend voters rights. I will defend marriage equality.  I will defend the rights of all people that have an immigrant past.  I will work for comprehensive immigration reform,” Clinton told the applauding crowd.

“The farmers and farmworkers produce half of the food that we eat…our farmworkers that are so important to the Fresno area and we must make sure they are not rounded up and deported by Donald Trump!” she went on to say.  This was her most specific reference to local issues.

Clinton did not specifically address California’s water crisis and drought – only briefly referring to the Golden State’s outdated water system. “We are going to work on water and get this fixed”, she said. Clinton did not give any further details.  In a recent visit to Fresno, Trump told the crowd at Selland Arena that (if elected) he too would fix the water problem and that “We don’t even have to think about it”.

The speech by the former Sec. of State lasted just over 30 minutes.

Rep. Jim Costa (D-Fresno) introduced Clinton.  Costa did not support Clinton in 2008 and instead through his Super Delegate vote to then-Senator Barack Obama.  In her speech, Clinton told the audience that she looks forward to working with her good friend Jim Costa when she’s elected President.

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday top Clinton adviser John Podesta said Clinton is “fighting” to win Tuesday’s California primary, despite needing just 60 more delegates to clinch the Democratic presidential nomination.  Podesta also admitted that presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is gaining strength.

“California’s important,” Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chairman, told “Fox News Sunday.” “And that’s why Hillary is crisscrossing the state. And we are fighting to win here.”

A total 875 Democrat delegates are available in six primaries Tuesday, including 475 in California.

Polls show Clinton in a virtual dead heat with Sen. Bernie Sanders in California.  Sanders visited Fresno last week and continues to speak to crowds across the Golden State.  CNN reported Saturday that Sanders is hinting at a contested convention.
