FRESNO (KMJ) – Fighting for children’s literacy is one man’s mission..
Ken Dunn is an ex-cop who found a direct connection to low literacy rates among criminals.
He saw that 18 percent of kids graduating from high school had less than a fourth grade reading level.
When Dunn became a self-made millionaire, he decided to put books in children’s hands – through his Reader’s Legacy Children’s Literacy Fund.
“I developed this firm believe that if I could get a book into the hands of every child and teach them that reading is cool then we could change the world.” – Ken Dunn, Founder of Reader’s Legacy Children’s Literacy Fund.
This year, Dunn’s initiative will give away one million books for free, and $200,000 dollars in grants to organizations that promote learning and reading.
Organizations can apply for a grants through Dunn’s website:. www.readerslegacy.com/childrens-literacy
