FRESNO (KMJ) – A fire truck with a Lee Brand campaign sign on top is upsetting firefighters in Fresno.
“That is a deceptive tactic to confuse voters into believing that public safety is supporting Lee Brand for Mayor – when we are not.” – James Scoggins, VP Fresno City Firefighters Association.
The Firefighters Union is backing mayoral candidate Henry Perea, who is running against Lee Brand, Doug Vagim and H. Spees.
The antique fire truck’s owner drove into the KMJ parking lot, numerous times on Monday, May 16th, and KMJ News caught up with owner Richard Caglia to ask him to respond to the Firefighters’ accusations.
“It’s been used here locally in other campaigns – and it’s never been an issue – all of a sudden it’s now this big issue.” – Richard Caglia II, Owner of antique fire truck.
Caglia says it’s his right to drive the truck with any signage he wants, and the controversy is spurring him to drive his truck even more.
As for Lee Brand, he called in to KMJ’s Chris Daniel Show, saying it was “much ado about nothing” and he just wants to run his campaign and then voters can decide.
