FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Some might say being just a little overweight isn’t a major problem.
However, according to new research covering more than 30 million people, those who are in the normal range of weight, live longer than those who are even slightly overweight.
Experts from Imperial College London say when people are too heavy, they have a much higher risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, arthritis, and diabetes, among other illnesses.
The World Health Organization defines a normal BMI as being between 18.5 and 24.9; the lowest mortality has been observed in the range of 23 to 24.
