FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — A city investigation is underway to determine whether Fresno officials accepted bribes to ignore code violations discovered during property inspections.
The Fresno bee reports six former JD Homes workers appeared in a May 19 video by fair housing advocacy group No More Slumlords and made the bribery allegations, prompting the city’s investigation.
A written statement from JD Home Rentals operator Bryce Hovannisian says the video contains inaccurate and unsubstantiated claims.
Corporate legal group Atkinson Andelson Loya Ruud attorney Laurian Rutterbush left a voicemail with No More Slumlords saying the city is taking the allegations seriously and hired the law firm to look into the claim that JD Homes paid bribes to city employees.
