Shooting In Northeast Fresno Injures 3 Teens At House Party, Police Say

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — Fresno police are investigating a shooting that injured three teenagers early Sunday morning at a house party in Northeast Fresno.

Officers were already patrolling the area near East Ashcroft Avenue and Ninth Street at 2:00 a.m. for reports of a loud party when they heard gunshots from the backyard of the home.

An 18-year-old man, along with a teenage boy and girl, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All three were released by Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Lt. Paul Cervantes said the party had been promoted on social media, drawing a large crowd and overwhelming the neighborhood.

“Individuals who were not invited to this party actually arrived to the location,” Cervantes said. “At some point in time, a physical altercation occurred in the backyard.”

A nearby resident, who declined to be identified, said several dozen people ran through his backyard following the shooting, damaging his fence.

Later that morning, investigators placed multiple evidence markers near the home. Alcohol bottles and medical aid kits were seen scattered along the street.

Police are urging young people to be cautious when attending large gatherings.

“Going to some location, especially if you’re not invited, could end in tragedy,” Cervantes said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fresno Police.
