Photographers Invited to Enter “Focus on Downtown Fresno Photo Contest”

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — Taking the perfect picture could earn you prizes and recognition.

You’re invited to take part in a contest seeking to capture the spirit of Downtown Fresno.

“So dust off your DSLR, mirrorless, iPhone, Android, film or whatever cameras you shoot with, and show us what you got!

The Downtown Fresno Partnership and its local partners are seeking entries for the “Focus on Downtown Fresno Photo Contest.”

This year’s 4 categories are Architecture, Culture & Events, Portraits: People & Pets and Black and White.

You may submit up to three (3) photos per category.

The categories are:

  • Architecture: Capture the man-made and natural beauty of Downtown from its buildings to its parks and plazas. You know what it is.
  • Events and Culture: Downtown always has so many different events to attend. You can take a deeper dive with culture as well. There is thrift and fashion culture with all the thrift, boutique, and retail stores here. Check out the art culture at Gallery Row, Arte Americas and Broadway Art Studios. The music culture is all over Downtown with Jazz Tuesdays, plus constant shows at Fulton 55 and Rainbow Ballroom. The office culture is real here too, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. Show us what events and culture mean to you in downtown.
  • Portraits: People & Pets: Show us who you enjoy Downtown with, whether its your friends, family, or pets. With many murals and beautiful backdrops, portraits are always amazing in Downtown
  • Black & White: This category can be any picture of Downtown. It might not fit in the other categories or you just might prefer your pictures more in black and white. There is something special about them, isn’t there?

Contest guidelines:

  • Photos must be taken within the “downtown triangle” between highways 41, 180, and 99, focusing on downtown
  • Photos be taken within the last year.
  • Photos must be under 100mb and submitted in JPEG format only.
  • At the time of submission, photos must be titled with your last name and category (ex. Smith_FoodandDrink).
  • One winner will be selected per category through judges and public online voting

Winners will receive a professionally printed copy of their winning photo and an hour-long photography session.
