FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – 29-year-old Christopher Contreras pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of attempted coercion of a minor and one count of enticement of a minor, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.

He was arrested in 2020 after messaging on Snapchat and Skout to what he thought was a 13-year-old girl but was actually undercover law enforcement.

When he came to Fresno to meet her for sex, he was arrested.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Contreras was one of 34 men arrested during the undercover operation “COVID Chat Down,” which was conducted by the ICAC Task Force from July 20 to August 2, 2020.

He’s been in federal custody since June of 2021.

Contreras faces life in prison when he is sentenced on April 1, 2024.
