Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy Hits And Kills Woman On Highway 180

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — An investigation is underway after a Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy struck and killed a woman on Highway 180 in Kerman on Thursday morning.

The crash happened just after 5:15 a.m. on Highway 180 and Siskiyou Avenue.

Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said one of his deputies was driving eastbound while on patrol when he struck an unhoused woman crossing the roadway.

The woman was hit in an unlit portion of the Highway and it’s believed she was collecting cans in the area.

The deputy pulled over immediately to provide medical aid but she died at the scene.

The unhoused woman has not yet been identified and it’s believed she was in her 50s or 60s.

The area at Modoc and Siskiyou Avenues was closed off during the investigation.
