Fresno Driver Accused of Murdering High School Student Taken Back into Custody

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The driver accused of a hit and run in Fresno that killed a high school student has been taken back into custody.

At her hearing in Fresno County Superior Court on Thursday, March 2, 2023, 39-year-old Lisa Spoors was taken back into custody.

Spoors is accused of driving into 15-year-old Hoover High student Rashad Al-Hakim Jr. on October 4th, 2022, as he was crossing the street.

He later died on Oct. 10th.

A vigil and rally for justice was held at Hoover High School on Wednesday at the site where the teen was killed.

At the time, illicit and prescription substances were found in Spoor’s toxicology report.

Spoors had a prior 2008 conviction for driving under the influence.

She faces three felony counts, including murder.

Her next hearing is on March 15th.
