
COALINGA, Calif. (KMJ) — Fresno County Sheriff’s along with Coalinga Police identified 22-year-old Oscar Contreras of Coalinga as the main suspect in a traffic stop in Coalinga that led to an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon.
Officers say he failed to pull over leading them into a chase which then caused him to crash into a parked car near Saltbrush Ave. and Buckeye Springs St.
Officials say once he got out of the car he refused to listen to police orders to surrender and then began reaching inside his car.
That is when an officer fired one shot, hitting his car.
Contreras was said to not be injured and was arrested by Police.
Officers did say they did not find a weapon inside the car but instead found a small amount of meth.
Investigators say Contreras was a known felon with an active warrant for possession of a loaded firearm.
He was booked into the Fresno County Jail for the warrant and possession of meth.
