SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KMJ) — A young girl who went missing early this month has been found safe, and police say two people have been arrested in connection to her disappearance.

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office first started an investigation into the 15-year-old’s whereabouts on July 1st after she went missing from Nipomo.

The girl is originally from Arizona but was visiting family in Nipomo where she was last seen.

In the investigation, Detectives found out that there was a man and a woman that the missing girl had made friends with on social media over the past year.

Detectives were able to identify 38-year-old Daniel Navarro from Victorville, Ca, who they say was pretending to be a teenager himself and was trying to convince the young girl to run away with him to Mexico.

Detectives also identified 20-year-old Julie Le from Garden Grove, Ca, who they say may have driven Navarro and the young girl to Tijuana, Mexico.

Search warrants were performed on the social media accounts and cell phones of both suspects, and both Navarro and Le were arrested on July 10th after they attempted to re-enter the United States from Mexico.

The next day, July 11th, the missing teen was rescued by Mexican authorities from a house in Tijuana, Mexico.

15-year-old Alilianna Trujillo was safely taken back to her family thanks to the help of the FBI, Homeland Security, San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office, and The U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
