(KMJ) – About 40 roosters are now in the care of Animal Control after Merced County Sheriff’s Deputies busted up an illegal cockfighting ring.
Deputies say they were called to a neighborhood on N Arboleda Drive, where they found a large-scale cockfighting operation.
At the scene, investigators found a fighting ring, scales, and sharp spurs that are attached to the roosters’ legs durring fights.
Sheriff’s Deputies add everyone who was there to see the fights ran away and no word on whether any arrests were made.
