(KMJ) – A crackdown on illegal street racing within the city of Fresno took place this past weekend.

Here are the details, as shared by Fresno Police:

Sunday evening, our Motor officers worked the Bringing Fulton Back Cruise. Unfortunately, rowdy street racing groups eventually joined in.

Traffic stops resulted in multiple citations and impounded vehicles. Later Sunday evening, officers responded to heavy street racing and cruiser traffic on Blackstone Avenue and Bullard Avenue. There many traffic stops were made.

Unfortunately, street racing and reckless driving result in injury or death far too often when the drivers lose control, resulting in a collision. Fortunately, our officers working this weekend were able to prevent a tragedy from occurring.

Totals for the Street Racing Enforcement this weekend:
Tickets: 107 street racing-related cites
Tows/Impounds: 21
DUI: 3
