(KMJ) – A tip about a cockfighting ring near Woodville helps Tulare County Sheriff’s Deputies seize several fighting birds and make three arrests.

Around 1 p.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office raided an orchard near the Woodville Labor Camp off of Road 192 and Avenue 160, west of the city of Porterville. Deputies say several vehicles took off when they arrived, leaving behind several roosters with razor blades tied to their feet. The Sheriff’s office also found a large amount of cash, as well as a significant amount of trash.

Three arrests were made on animal cruelty charges and Tulare County Animal Control captured several birds that were released into the orchard.
