
(KMJ) – Four fire personnel continue to recover after being struck by a falling tree while battling a lightning-caused wild fire burning in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
Here is how fire incident commanders described Thursday’s incident:
At approximately 3:00 p.m., the KNP Complex received a radio transmission that a tree had fallen, striking four individuals working on the KNP Complex Fire. The patients were all brought to the nearest helispot and transported by air to area hospitals. (Two to CRMC, two to Kaweah Delta) All four individuals are receiving medical care. Thankfully, while their injuries are serious, they are in stable condition, and we are grateful.
The identities those injured has yet to be released.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks remain closed west of the Pacific Crest Trail and south of the ridgeline which lies north of Ionian Basin. In addition, the BLM Case Mountain Extensive Recreation Management Area and major portions of the Sequoia National Forest are also closed.
